Yesterday I noticed a new rattle coming from my engine, it scares me because it sounds similar to the noise that a previous engine made seconds before it died. It appears while partially on throttle. (like maintaining speed @ 65) I can not hear it when I am off throttle, and it goes away when I get past part throttle. It is faint from 2500RPM increasing through ~3500, but I can not tell if it is disappearing over 3500 because the throttle load is higher. It does not appear until I have been driving for a while and the car is plenty warm. I would love it to be something like the VTC springs, but I'm pretty sure I changed them 20k ago when I put this motor in. I was low on coolant last night. I have not tried to replicate the symptoms since I topped it off. (1-2 qts) Any Tips? I am currently searching if there is a way to test the VTC springs.
